Terms of Service
Last updated: June 1, 2026
By using VinSpecify you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. The service
VinSpecify is a free tool that decodes a 17-character Vehicle Identification Number into vehicle specifications. Decoded data is sourced from a third-party provider (CarAPI).
2. No warranty on decoded data
Decoded information is provided "as is" and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. VinSpecify is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer. Do not rely on a decode alone for purchase, legal, safety, or insurance decisions — always verify against official records and the physical vehicle.
3. Acceptable use
- Do not abuse, overload, scrape, or bulk-query the service.
- Do not attempt to bypass anti-abuse measures (Turnstile) or rate limits.
- Do not use the service for any unlawful purpose.
4. Public VIN pages
VINs you decode may be cached and published as public, search-indexable reference pages showing vehicle specifications only (no plate; year only). See our Privacy Policy for details and how to request removal.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VinSpecify is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the service or the decoded data.
6. Changes
We may modify the service or these terms at any time; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union.
